Nepal Africa Film Festival concludes

The Nepal African Film Festival (NAFF) 2023 has come to an end. The event kicked off on July 8 at Rastriya Nachghar, Jamal, Kathmandu, Nepal. The Nepalese movie “Prakash” and the African movie ” The train of Salt and Sugar”  were awarded the ‘Best Film Award’.

Similarly, in the African competition, Ishi Hiyamoha won the Jury Prize for his short film Ya, and Zimbabwe’s Calling the Dead won Best Documentary Award.
Under Nepalese Film Competition: Best Screenplay was bagged by Vikas Subedi for Prakash, Music award was won by  Arish Kalki, The Best Male Actor fwas bagged by Tej Giri for Premganj, and Best Female Actor Award was given to Nita Dungana . She won the Best Actress award for Bhagya and  Roshan Kumar Shrestha won the Award for Best Director.

Organized by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) and co-hosted by the Film Development Board and Viralukshan Creation, a total of 22 films were selected for screening, including 10 from Africa and 12 from Nepal. Festival Chairperson Manju Mishra said the NAFF has contributed to cultural exchange between Nepal and Africa. Festival director Dabbu Chhetri said a one-day theater workshop and networking event titled ‘National and International Markets for Nepalese Short Films’ was also held as part of NAFF.
