Now ‘Cancer has answer’

There was a time when you had to say ‘no’ if someone asked if there was a cure to cancer. But, according to recent developments now cancer has answer. However, the participants of a program organized on Saturday said that the disease should be identified in time for this. At the 30th ‘Sudipta Cancer Survivor Meet’ organized by Nepal Cancer Support Group in Nagarkot, people who have recovered from cancer stated that it is possible to cure cancer.

Stressing on the need for the disease to be identified at the early stages for treatment, the participants stated that Nepal has an international standard for cancer treatment. Therefore, those who have cancer are advised not to lower their morale. Chairman of the Nepal Cancer Support Group, Dilip Bhattarai, said that public awareness about cancer needs to be further expanded.

Stating that the first treatment for cancer is morale, all the patients were advised to keep their morale high. Swarupa Shrestha, vice president of Nepal Cancer Support Group and coordinator of Sudipta Cancer Survivor Meet, said that cancer is the answer and suggested to live happily. Saying that cancer is a curable disease, she said that one can live a new life happily if treated at the right time.

Shashank Sharma, another vice president of the Nepal Cancer Support Group, shared his experience of 21 years of being cured of cancer in Nepal. General Secretary Ganesh Bhakta Shrestha said that the group was conducting continuous awareness programs and planned to take it to a wider scale.

Dozens of people who have been cured from cancer for more than 25 years said that they should be aware of cancer but not be afraid of it. It was also advised to take special precaution to prevent cancer from spreading. In the program, three dozen people who are living a healthy life by defeating cancer shared their experiences and they requested other patients to keep their morale high in order to be cured.
