New trek route now shortens “Rara” Trip

A new trek route has been constructed from Lamachaur to reach Rara Lake, a major tourist destination of Karnali. Construction of the new trek trail has been started from Chhayannath Rara Municipality-3 Lamachaur Gairakanda to Rara Lake via Rawat Mahadev, Bhedikhor, Dighe Bhalu and Thakurnath temples.

Although it is currently used from Lamachaur and Salleri, the trail touches almost all of the major tourist destinations of the district. It takes about an hour from the district headquarters Gamgadhi Bazaar to reach Lamachaur, the place from where the trek trail starts. Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat said that Rara Lake can be reached in about 20 to 30 minutes on foot from Lamachaur. You can also go by vehicle from the district headquarters Gamgadhi Bazaar to Salleri and Lamachaur near Rara Lake. However, construction of the new foot trail has been started for tourists who want to go on foot.

After the construction of the new foot trail, the number of hotels and tourism in Lamachaur will increase and it will help in the economic prosperity of the village as well as employment, said Rup Bahadur Malla, chairman of the civil society of Mugu. Badri Binod Dahal, Warden of Rara National Park, said that this tourism footpath will also emphasize on tourism development and local income generation as the first priority.
